FAQ
Good to know before you come
Do you speak English?
Yes. Consultations, examinations, and results discussions are available in English as well as German – you are welcome to choose whichever language you are more comfortable in. Invoices can be issued in English on request. The legal notice and the privacy policy are available in English too; the German versions remain the binding ones.
Do I need a referral?
No. As this is a private practice, you can book an appointment directly – regardless of whether you have private, statutory, or international insurance. A referral is not required.
I have statutory health insurance – what does that mean for me?
All services are open to patients with statutory insurance as self-pay services. Billing follows the German medical fee schedule (GOÄ); you receive a written cost overview before treatment begins. Some supplementary policies contribute to the costs, for example for osteopathy or natural medicine.
Will my private health insurance reimburse the treatment?
German private health insurers and Beihilfe reimburse GOÄ physician services in full or in part, depending on your plan. Osteopathy carried out by a physician is billed as a physician service under the GOÄ. Only your insurer can give you a binding answer – you are welcome to send them the written cost overview in advance. If you are insured internationally, you pay directly and submit the itemised GOÄ invoice to your insurer yourself.
What happens at a first appointment?
The first consultation is deliberately unhurried: we go through your health history, current complaints, medication, and your goals. Depending on the question, a physical examination and the planning of laboratory diagnostics follow. Please do bring any existing findings, doctors’ letters, and a list of your medication.
Can I come with results I already have?
Yes, absolutely. Previous findings, laboratory values, and doctors’ letters spare you duplicate testing and make trends visible. They are included in the interpretation.
Does this replace my current doctors?
No. The support offered at my practice is meant to complement care from your GP and your specialists, particularly with chronic and autoimmune conditions. Prescribed medication is not changed without consulting the doctors treating you.
Which autoimmune conditions do you support?
The focus areas are lichen sclerosus, psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis; beyond these I also support people with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, among other conditions. This support always complements specialist treatment – dermatological, gynaecological, rheumatological, or endocrinological – and never replaces it. According to current medical knowledge, autoimmune conditions cannot be cured; the aim is to positively influence how you feel and your quality of life and to make good use of the factors you can actually influence.
Is fasting suitable for me?
That can only be answered responsibly on an individual basis. Every fasting programme therefore begins with a medical consultation, an examination, and a blood test. Fasting is not suitable for people who are underweight or have an eating disorder, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, or with certain conditions – and that, too, is a possible and responsible outcome of the pre-examination.
How do I get an appointment?
I arrange appointments personally – by phone or by email via the contact page. Send me your name, your phone number, and a few keywords about your concern, and I will come back to you with a suggested time, usually within two working days. For your first appointment, please bring any existing findings, doctors’ letters, and a list of your medication. You receive a written cost overview before treatment begins. The practice is at Spindelstraße 5a (entrance at the corner of Alt Nowawes), 14482 Potsdam-Babelsberg.
Your question was not among them? Write to me – I answer personally.
