Private Health Check-up in Potsdam

Preventive medicine means engaging with your health before symptoms force you to. A health check-up at my practice is not an assembly-line examination: it is a thorough stocktake – an unhurried consultation, a physical examination, and comprehensive laboratory diagnostics – leading to a prevention plan that fits your everyday life, not the other way around.

How is this different from the statutory “Check-up 35” screening?

Statutory screening programmes are valuable but deliberately narrow. A preventive-medicine check-up sets different priorities, above all in three ways:

  • Time. For the initial consultation I set aside 60 to 90 minutes – enough time for previous illnesses, family risks, sleep, nutrition, exercise, stress – and what you actually want to achieve.
  • Depth of diagnostics. Beyond a basic blood count we examine – depending on your situation – metabolic and inflammation markers, thyroid values, vitamin and micronutrient status, and further values suggested by your history. Which tests make sense is something we decide together, not by template.
  • A plan instead of a report. You leave not with a column of numbers but with a concrete, prioritised plan: What matters now? What can you do yourself – nutrition, movement, sleep, stress regulation? Where is further specialist evaluation sensible?

What does longevity mean in medical practice?

In medicine, longevity does not mean “living longer” – it means healthy years: staying physically and mentally capable, resilient, and self-determined for as long as possible. Technically, it is about the gap between lifespan and the years lived without impairment, and about keeping that gap small. What a doctor can actually influence here is unspectacular and well studied: blood pressure, blood lipids, glucose and insulin metabolism, weight and body composition, muscle strength and endurance, sleep, alcohol and nicotine, vaccination and screening status, mental health, and social connection. These are the factors I measure, discuss, and track over time – and they are what the prevention plan is made of.

The term is heavily marketed at the moment – from supplement subscriptions and “biological age” tests to infusion programmes. It is used soberly here: I measure what has a consequence, place it in the context of your own trajectory, and tell you when a test or a preparation has no demonstrated benefit. Nobody can promise you a longer life, and I do not either. What medical prevention can do is make risks visible early and work with you on the factors that can genuinely be changed. Which values make sense for that is set out under laboratory diagnostics.

Which blood values are examined in the check-up?

Your laboratory profile is put together individually – usually from a full blood count, liver, kidney and electrolyte values, blood glucose and HbA1c, a differentiated lipid profile, thyroid and inflammation markers, and vitamin and micronutrient status. Which values make sense in your case is set out under laboratory diagnostics.

How does the check-up work?

  1. Initial consultation – detailed medical history and goal setting
  2. Examination and blood draw – physical examination and an individually composed laboratory profile
  3. Results consultation – we go through every finding together, explained in plain language and placed in the context of your health story
  4. Your prevention plan – written, specific, and practical, with follow-up appointments if you wish

Who is a preventive check-up for?

For people who want to take responsibility for their own health – because chronic disease runs in the family, because exhaustion, poor sleep, or recurring infections are piling up, because a new phase of life is beginning, or simply because you want to know where you stand. A check-up does not replace treatment of existing conditions – it helps detect risks early and act on them deliberately.

What does it cost?

Fees follow the German medical fee schedule (GOÄ); the scope – and therefore the cost – depends on the agreed examination and laboratory profile. You receive a written cost overview before we begin. Details on fees & reimbursement.
